Evidence Centre's first work programme
20 July
Summer/Autumn 2023 Work Programme
Health and Care Research Wales Evidence Centre, funded by Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales was officially launched in March 2023, with an opening address from the Minister for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan.
The Health and Care Research Wales Evidence Centre now publishes its first work programme. The programme encompasses 18 research questions which are split across two work streams - evidence synthesis and primary research - covering topics from a wide range of health and social care settings. The Centre will work with five Welsh collaborating partners, with the research findings being used to inform policy and practice within Wales.
The evidence synthesis programme will see the team review and report on evidence from research studies which have already taken place, making sure decision makers are provided with information which is accessible and up-to-date. Questions include examining the effectiveness of interventions to help make homes warmer and easier to heat, the us artificial intelligence in cancer diagnosis, and the disease burdens in the next ten years for NHS.
The Centre will be conducting new research studies to provide data to answer questions such as patients’ preference for NHS dental care, the effect of proposed changes to the supply of gluten-free products and will evaluate the effectiveness of diagnostic hubs.
The Centre’s Patient Partnership Group (PPG), made up of 14 members including two Co-Leads, will be involved with all the Centre research, assisting with the evidence being developed and will ensure it is accessible and useful to the people of Wales.
